Privacy policy
Updated 11 October 2026 · The Apollo Street Company, LLC
Glowbug Games is made for children, with choices for grown-ups. This policy separates what stays on your iPad from the services that use a network.
Your child’s information
An optional first name, chosen goals, play settings and local play records stay on the iPad, except the anonymous usage data described below. There is no child account and there are no ads. If you choose to export records, you decide where that export goes. Please avoid sending us your child’s personal information when asking for help.
Camera and face information in version 1.0
Eye Attention and Look Lab are unavailable in version 1.0 and collect no new camera-based face or eye measurements, including through TrueDepth or ARKit. The camera is not used by default. Star Photo is optional and opened by a grown-up behind the parental gate. Taking a selfie requires Camera permission; choosing a photo from the photo library does not. Only a cropped photo is saved on the iPad; the app never uploads it, and “Remove photo” deletes it. Photo and measurement stores are excluded from backups. There are no automatic face, eye or photo uploads. PostHog’s ordinary game and performance analytics contain no face, eye or photo data.
Measurements from earlier betas
Earlier betas may have left Eye Attention summaries, duplicate practice records, and Look Lab numerical samples with temporary face-tracking identifiers. These measurement records contain no saved images, video, face meshes or depth maps. Records may remain locally until deleted. Successful “Delete all” in the grown-up corner removes these records and temporary exports; Statistics “Delete counts” does not remove Look Lab records. Current exports omit measurement values but may contain past Eye Check opening counts. The app cannot delete external copies already shared by a parent.
Experimental development and future changes
Eye tracking is under experimental development. We have not yet validated a reliable way to use the iPad camera for this purpose. Our goal is to help parents quantify practice against goals they choose, including smooth pursuit (following a moving target) and saccades (quick looks between targets). This is not an available measurement feature or a diagnostic tool. Future use would require grown-up opt-in and be off by default. Raw eye-tracking camera frames would be processed transiently on the iPad and discarded after processing; only numerical summaries would remain locally until parent deletion. We have no plans to upload this data to our servers or share it with third-party services. We will continue improving the method without guaranteeing results or a release timeline. We will notify parents in the app before introducing eye tracking or changing camera access, its purpose or experimental status, or how its data is processed, stored, shared, retained or deleted.
Purchases and paywalls
Purchases go through Apple using the iPad’s built-in purchase system. We do not receive your card details. The app contains no third-party SDKs or advertising. Anonymous usage data is sent separately, as described below. If you choose to export local play records, you decide where they go. See Apple’s privacy policy for how Apple handles purchase information.
Anonymous game usage and performance
Sharing is on by default. It helps us understand whether families can get started, use the grown-up gate, choose an offer, finish or leave a level, and complete or cancel a purchase or restore. We send page and plan choices as fixed labels, game and level numbers, pace and sound choices, and per-level totals such as accepted and missed stop opportunities, holds, time in contact with the star and time playing. Ignored taps are not counted. We also send launch and scene-loading times, average frame rate, the share of frames slower than 30 frames per second, and memory-warning events. App version and build number help us find problems in a release.
These events go to PostHog, Inc., in its US cloud, as our analytics processor. We use a small first-party client, with no PostHog SDK, automatic capture, session replay, advertising, or feature flags. We do not sell this data or share it for advertising. Read PostHog’s privacy policy.
We never send your child’s name, goals, photos, account information, location, device details, advertising identifiers, or persistent identifiers. A random identifier groups events only while the app is open; it is held in memory and replaced on each new launch. Events have times rounded to the second. PostHog receives the network connection needed to deliver events; its project is configured to discard client IP data, and each event disables IP-based location enrichment. Data is kept only as long as needed to improve the games.
In the grown-up corner, turn off “Share anonymous usage data” to stop sending and clear unsent events immediately. Events wait only in memory and are lost when the app closes. This switch is separate from the local play-records switch. Turning sharing off does not delete data already received by PostHog.
This website and email signup
This website is hosted by Cloudflare. If a grown-up signs up for updates, we store their email address, signup time and browser user-agent in Cloudflare KV. We use the email for Glowbug launch news and game updates. Signup does not send a message immediately. We keep signup information until you ask us to remove it or we stop using the list.
Cloudflare receives ordinary connection information, such as an IP address, to serve and protect the website. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives the connection information needed to deliver them. We do not add advertising trackers or website analytics. Read Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Google Fonts’ privacy information.
Your choices
In the grown-up corner, you can turn off play records, change the name and goals, manage Star Photo, export records, or delete local app data. Deleting app data does not cancel an Apple subscription or delete an email signup. Manage subscriptions in your Apple account settings.
To request deletion of a signup or ask about privacy, email [email protected]. You can also visit our support page.
